RankFamily Archives: April 2006

Well, my New Year's could've been better. I spent it in the hospital, with the flu and then pneumonia. It was a rough ride, for a while there. The nurses were counseling Linda to tell me it's okay to let go. Yeesh. With nurses like that.... Actually, they were all competent and caring. My stay began December 29th, and ended 16 days later. My whole family came up to be with me, and to advocate for me. (No speech is quite a handicap in the hospital.) Thanks to all who visited me while I was there; it meant a lot to me.

My bout with the flu seemed to speed up my ALS. I've had to let go of music performance, and typing is slower and more error prone. I really need to keep my arms and legs stretched out, too. The physical therapist trained my daytime caregivers how to do it, so it's all good.

I am as behind on my emails as I was on the blog, so to conserve hand strength, I'll keep this post short. Stay tuned, and stay classy, San Diego.
